Today, Los Angeles psych-rock juggernauts Frankie and the Witch Fingers have returned with the pummeling new single “Electricide.” The track appears as the A side on a new 7″ backed by the brand new “Chalice” — available via The Reverberation Appreciation Society / Greenway Records. The band is currently finishing their US tour which will finish off with an appearance at Levitation before they embark on a headline tour of Australia.

Following the mind-sweat psychedelics of their last album, Monsters Eating People Eating Monsters…, Frankie and the Witch Fingers snapped back into focus with the tar-pit grease-slick of “Cookin’,” a single that found them scratching through the rubble of rock n’ roll. With a new tour on the horizon, the band follows that single up with “Electricide,” a double side of singe that sees them chewing on iron-plated riffs at a breakneck pace. Fueled by speed, smoke, and an elemental electricity, “Electricide” continues to embrace the street-level heft that crept in with “Cookin’.” They drop into the single, already pushing the venom and volume to its limits, crushing the accelerator to the floorboards. Then, just before the three-minute mark, the band detonates the amps for maximum damage, hitting a heaviness that’s only been hinted at on record, evoking their explosive live shows.

The flip finds them cooling off, but only slightly, with a bit of desert twang butting heads with oxygenated synths. “Chalice” runs its fingers through the listeners’ lymph nodes with a neon- hued intoxication that’s just as enticing as the red-line rip on the a-side. It’s as potent a pairing as the band have offered up yet and just a hint of what the band has in store for the coming year.

“Since our studio was destroyed by the Hurricane Ida floods, our music has been heavily influenced by the nature of water,” the band says about the track and video. “‘Get Me High’ is about trying to grasp a breath after unexpectedly losing everything. Brisbane, Australia psych-pop artist Baby Cool is today sharing ‘Magic’, the debut single from the new project by Nice Biscuit co-frontwoman Grace Cuell. Arriving following recent tour dates with Babe Rainbow and The Lazy Eyes, Baby Cool’s ‘Magic’ is out now. Stay tuned for more news from Baby Cool, the debut LP will be co-released by Greenway Records & Levitation’s The Reverberation Appreciation Society in North America, Virgin Music in Australia & Bad Vibes / Fuzz Club in the UK.

Recorded and mixed by Samuel Joseph (Family Jordan), the track ‘Magic’ is performed by an all-star lineup with Jess Ferronato (Nice Biscuit) on drums and guitar, Nick Cavendish (Nice Biscuit) on bass and Drew Heydon (The Flamingo Jones) on keys.

‘Magic’ is released alongside a music video made by Brisbane/Berlin-based graphic artist Dougal Morrison. “Dougal is a genuine wizard. Nice Biscuit has worked alongside him for years, so it felt right to have him on board to help visualise Baby Cool. Like most wizards, Dougal’s process is a bit of a mystery to me. For this video he has used a combination of his own graphic design spells and some whack AI technology. However he did it, it felt like magic – which seems fitting.”

I am so excited to welcome GIFT to the Greenway Records family and stoked to announce their debut 7” release with Dreamhouse I + II.

GIFT is one of the most exciting new bands in Brooklyn and I am proud to work with them on this 7” and help start their journey. This will be pressed up on Gold Vinyl & 100 special copies hand-poured by myself! I have not hand-poured a 7” in a few years and I’m very excited for this special release.
