PROGRAMMIQUE - GREENWAY RECORDS - PHOTO BY NEPTUNNE

Welcome Programmique to the Greenway Family!

We are stoked to welcome Brooklyn’s Programmique to the Greenway Records family. The band’s debut 7” ‘Remember What’ is a study of momentum. The Brooklyn three-piece jitters, jabs, and jaunts across their debut – fading into phantasmagoric visions of forgotten objects and treating repetition as a self-help incantation.

The band comprises Zoltán Sindhu, Alex Potter and Greg Tock. Some of the heads may recognize Zoltán as the on and off touring bassist of Acid Dad… so the family runs deep. Having shared a studio where Greenway, Acid Dad and Programmique called home, this release has been a long time coming.

Limited to only 100 copies on Heavy Splatter 7” vinyl, be sure to check out Programmique and add this one to your Greenway vinyl collection!

Frankie and the Witch Fingers Release New Album ‘Data Doom’

Los Angeles psych-punk quartet Frankie and the Witch Fingers have returned with their seventh studio album Data Doom, out now via Greenway Records / The Reverberation Appreciation Society. The band has shared album highlight “Mild Davis” with a mind-bending animated music video. Inspired by Miles Davis’ early-70s electric work, the track’s dizzying 7/4 meter winds through chunky riffs, commanding vocals and proggy synths before crash-landing in a minefield of angular guitar harmonies. Additionally, check out the music videos of all the singles below.

Over the past decade, Frankie and the Witch Fingers have operated as an outright force of nature, offering up a revelatory form of psych-rock that hits on both a primal and ecstatically mind-bending level. In the making of their new album Data Doom, the Los Angeles-based four-piece forged a sublimely galvanizing sound informed by their love of Afrobeat and proto-punk—a potent vessel for their frenetic meditations on technological change run rampant, encroaching fascism, and corrosive systems of power. Animated by the explosive energy they’ve brought to the stage in sharing bills with such eclectic acts as Ty Segall and ZZ Top, the result is a major leap forward for one of the most adventurous and forward-thinking bands working today.

Rooted in the cerebral yet viscerally commanding songwriting of co-founders Dylan Sizemore (vocals, guitar) and Josh Menashe (lead guitar, synth), Data Doom marks the first Frankie and the Witch Fingers album created with bassist Nikki “Pickle” Smith (formerly of Death Valley Girls) and drummer Nick Aguilar (previously a touring drummer for punk legend Mike Watt). In crafting their most rhythmically complex work to date, the band drew heavily from each new member’s distinct sensibilities: Smith tapped into her extensive background in West African drumming (an art form she first discovered thanks to her music-instructor parents), while Aguilar leaned into formative influences like longtime Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen. Self-produced by the DIY-minded band and recorded direct to tape by Menashe, Data Doom ultimately took shape through countless sessions in their Southeast L.A. rehearsal space, with Frankie and the Witch Fingers allowing themselves unlimited time to explore their most magnificently strange impulses.

Welcome Nice Biscuit to the Greenway Family!

We are stoked to welcome Brisbane’s Nice Biscuit to the Greenway family!

Nice Biscuit create their distinct vision of psychedelic and garage rock by blending together harmonised vocal melodies and driving instrumental grooves. Vocalists Billie Star and Grace Cuell (aka Baby Cool), bring their ethereal and powerful vocal harmonies, synchronised movement and elaborate matching costumes to create a visually stunning live performance. Nick Cavendish (bass), Jess Ferronato (guitar) and Kurt Melvin (drums), offer fuzzy instrumentals, melodic lead guitar sections and tight rhythms that combine to create a swirl of psychy sonic exploration that can’t be missed.

Nice Biscuit have played with the likes of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Allah Las and The Murlocs. This May/June Nice Biscuit are embarking on a UK/EU co-headline tour with band members’ (Grace) new project Baby Cool. We can’t wait to get them to the USA!

Watch / Listen to their deep fried cover of “I Feel Love”

In the meantime, expect some exciting new tracks from Nice Biscuit in 2023 ahead of their much anticipated second album to be co-released in early 2024 by Greenway Records & Levitation’s The Reverberation Appreciation Society in North America + Bad Vibes / Fuzz Club in the UK/EU.

For her debut album as Baby Cool, Grace Cuell evolves her established psychedelic tendencies with glimmers of Nashville twang and New Orleans swing. These eight songs are understated at first, woozy and dreamlike, steered by melodic lap steel guitar runs lacquered in fuzz, carrying wallops of heart in Cuell’s soul-baring ruminations on mental health, self-love and preservation” – NME
