Las Rosas
Bio:
Brooklyn garage-psych trio Las Rosas were formed in 2013 by guitarist Jose Boyer, bassist Jose Aybar, and drummer Christopher Lauderdale. Boyer had previously found success as a member of Matador act Harlem and also played in the band Daytona with Lauderdale. Aybar, meanwhile, played in Wild Yaks. Together they pooled their previous bands' best attributes and came up with a blend of hooky garage pop, Rolling Stones-derived strut, and sunny off-kilter psychedelia. Burger Records recognized them right away and put out a five-song cassette, Flower in the Sun, in late 2013; then the trio self-released the "Ms. America"/"Sensitive Flower" 7" in 2014. With Las Rosas still honing their sound while playing shows and Aybar still working with Wild Yaks, it took a while for them to finish recording their first album. Las Rosas released their debut full-length, Everyone Gets Exactly What They Want, in March 2017. Working quickly, the group returned to studios in Nashville and New Palz, New York that summer and knocked out another album. The breakup-inspired Shadow by Your Side was issued by Brooklyn's Greenway Records in May of 2018.
